Congratulations to the Eagleton Undergraduate Associates Class of 2023 who graduated from the program last week.
Last year, the students began their journey in Professor Saladin Ambar's course Practice of Politics. While in this course, students learned about the role of power in politics and also what it means to govern in a democratic system. This past summer and fall, the students gained hands-on experience in politics and government by completing internships. In the fall semester, the students were enrolled in an Internship Seminar course taught by Eagleton adjunct faculty and Rutgers Vice President for Federal Relations Francine Newsome Pfeiffer. In the course, which is designed to complement the students' internship field placements, students learned about career paths in the political realm, organizational dynamics, networking, and leadership in the workplace. This semester, students were enrolled in Dr. Elizabeth C. Matto's course Process of Politics. The course is designed to help students deepen and apply their understanding of politics and governance by providing windows into how “the system” works and how decisions are made. The 2023 cohort of Eagleton Undergraduate Associates celebrated their completion of the program at a ceremony at the Institute's Wood Lawn Mansion. Class representatives Ayana Tapper, Gabriel Garcia, and Amanda Chen encouraged their peers in their speeches and share that their time together at Eagleton was a "shining star" after a great time of darkness during the pandemic.. "Go after whatever you want in life, even if you don't think you'll get it," said Tapper. Learn more about this cohort and about the program. |
