Dear  :

The Eagleton Institute of Politics is delighted to host American Sunlight Project Co-Founder and CFO Nina Jankowicz in conversation with NPR’s Michel Martin for this year’s Arthur J. Holland Program on Ethics. The Arthur J. Holland Program on Ethics in Government honors the distinguished Rutgers alumnus and long-time mayor of Trenton and seeks to promote transparency and honesty in public affairs and improve public policy and government practices by replacing cynicism and apathy with awareness. In this upcoming academic year, Eagleton’s programming will center around “Navigating the 2024 Election and Beyond,” and our Holland Program will focus on the important role that consuming reliable information plays in making informed political decisions.

I am writing to invite you to this public event on Wednesday, October 16th, at 7:00 p.m. at Cook Student Center. Prior to the presentation, a small reception will be held at the Cook College multi-purpose room at 6:00 p.m. This reception is invitation only and intended for select faculty, staff, and Eagleton students. We would be honored if you could join us for both the lecture and the reception, and we also offer you the opportunity to bring guests, including faculty, colleagues, and students. A heavy reception will be served.

Co-founder and CEO of the American Sunlight Project, Nina Jankowicz is an internationally-recognized author and expert on disinformation and democratization. Her debut book, How to Lose the Information War was named a New Statesman 2020 book of the year and praised by The New Yorker. Her second book How to Be A Woman Online examines online abuse and disinformation and how to counter it.

The discussion will be moderated by Michel Martin, host of NPR’s Morning Edition. Her roles have included weekend host of All Things Considered, creator of the Tell Me More show, and host of the live event series Michel Martin: Going There. Martin is renowned for her deep reporting and engaging storytelling across various media platforms. This event will include a Q&A session and is open to the public, as well as our campus community. Additional details about the program and registration are available here

To attend the pre-lecture reception with Ms. Jankowicz and Ms. Martin, please RSVP here or you may reach out to Nancy Shihadeh, Eagleton’s coordinator for public programs if you have any questions. Nancy can be reached at shihadeh@rutgers.edu or at 732/618‐9199. Please note that any accompanying guests must RSVP using the link provided.

I hope that your schedule permits your attendance at both the reception and the subsequent program.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth C. Matto, Ph.D.
