Applications are now open for the Center for Youth Political Participation's (CYPP) Summer 2025 Digital Content Creator Internship. Digital content creators are responsible for creating original social media content to support the Rutgers Democracy Lab. This opportunity is available to current Rutgers students from any field of study.

Now Accepting Applications: Darien Civic Engagement Project for Fall 2025 Cohort

Applications are open for the fall 2025 cohort of the Darien Civic Engagement Project (DCEP). Supporting RU Voting’s on-campus voter registration and mobilization drives, enrolled students will earn 1.5 credits for their work during the semester.

Open to all class years, majors, and schools, DCEP is a great way to get involved with CYPP and Eagleton.

The deadline to apply is Friday, April 11 at 5:00PM.

ICYMI: Beyond the Classroom
Eagleton Graduate and Science Fellows Return to the New Jersey State House

Last week, the Eagleton Graduate and Science Fellows returned to the NJ State House for their monthly session. They learned about the New Jersey state budget process from State Treasurer Elizabeth Maher Muoio and participated in a workshop on how to give effective public testimony. Thank you to Treasurer Muoio for sharing your expertise and knowledge with the fellows.

 
RU Ready Brings Civics to New Brunswick High School Students at Young Leaders Conference

Last Friday, CYPP's RU Ready team hosted a group of New Brunswick High School students at the annual Young Leaders Conference for a full day of programming and discussions on how young adults can impact their community. Addressing a fictional scenario selected by the students, four groups worked together to create a campaign and presented their solutions to banning cell phones in schools.

Thank you to the New Jersey State Bar Foundation and the Rutgers Democracy Lab for supporting the RU Ready programming, and to the undergraduate interns and DCEP students for their skillful work with each attendee. Special thanks to New Brunswick Public Schools for their continued partnership.

 
Students Learned to Use Tech for Social Good from Digital Strategist Expert at Pizza & Politics

On Monday, Megan Coyne, former deputy director of platforms for the White House, spoke with a packed room of Rutgers students for CYPP's Pizza & Politics event. She shared tips and strategies for turning social media engagement into positive social action. Thank you to Megan for sharing your experiences as the leading creative behind the @njgov Twitter account and giving current students guiding points for creating their own engaging digital content with a purpose.

This event was in collaboration with the Rutgers Democracy Lab and the launch of their "Using Tech for Social Good" event series.

 
Mayor of Metuchen Visits Undergraduate Associates to Discuss Local Government

This week, Metuchen Mayor Jonathan Busch spoke with the Undergraduate Associates (‘25) during their Process of Politics class. He shared more about the role of the mayor's office and his experiences in local government. Thank you to Mayor Busch for giving students a glimpse into the functions of local government, how it works, and its relevance to their communities.
