Rutgers Today | Eagleton Science Fellows to Help New Jersey Officials Develop Evidence-Based Public Policy

Organizers of the Eagleton Science and Politics Fellowship program at the Rutgers University Eagleton Institute of Politics have announced the latest cohort of fellows serving as full-time science advisers in New Jersey state government.

For the next year, the new group of seven Eagleton Science Fellows will aid state political officials in the development and implementation process of evidence-based public policy.

The economy is a top issue on voters’ minds. A July 2025 Rutgers-Eagleton poll found that 85% of New Jersey residents were dissatisfied with the state's handling of affordability and the cost of living. Electricity bills in the state spiked a whopping 20% in June. And New Jersey remains one of the most expensive places in the country to buy a house.
